Introduced in 1979, the T3 was the last of the rear-engined Volkswagens and was larger and more brick-like in its styling than its curvier predecessors.

Early versions still had air-cooled flat-four engines but these were replaced by water-cooled units from 1983 onwards. Other improvements on later models included bigger brakes and a more modern interior with many useful options such as power steering, central locking, air conditioning, electric mirrors, rev counter, 5-speed gearbox etc.

First registered in January 1990, this T3 Dropside has had just four owners from new and has been in the current ownership since 2015.
