Replacing the MGA in 1962 the MGB was manufactured until 1980 with over half a million derivatives produced. The lightweight design adding to overall vehicle strength. Wind-up windows were standard, and a comfortable driver's compartment offered plenty of legroom. The MGB achieved a 0–60 mph time of just over 11 seconds.The three-bearing 1,798 cc B-Series engine produced 95bhp at 5,400 rpm. It was one of the first cars to feature

This Tahiti Blue 'B, (dating from August 1975, the first full year of the rubber bumper cars), has had the common conversion back to chrome for a cleaner, less cumbersome look, the polished chrome working well with the lovely paint hue. The car was somewhat well known in the MG Owners Club, and has won 5 MGOC trophies for Best in Class in the late 1980s.

Sitting upon a lovely set of Minilite style wheels, with black Mohair roof and leather (might be leatherette) retro fit seats as found in the MGB Hive catalogue and found in later model Rovers offering greater comfort and support the car looks well and sounds well, particularly given the fitment of a discreet and period looking Retro Sound Hermosa AM/FM radio with USB/MP3/WMA playback facility -very snazzy.

Recent spend includes a hub kit and replacement gearbox oil dated June 2020, sump gasket,waterless coolant, brake fluid, rocker gasket, fan belt and new alternator in May 2020, new water pump, throttle return spring, woodruff key, oil, filter,and thermostat in April 2020. A new battery and clamp was fitted in August 2019 along with new rocker cover gasket, arm rest striker and catch, new gasket forthe tappet chest and a 1.5litres of Dnitrol and 500ml of cavity wax to protectthe underside and vulnerable areas. The fitment of the parts purchased was carried out by the previous owner, a retired engineer in his own workshop, all good work undertaken during his tenure to keep the car ship shape and reliable for taking the wife out in.

Other invoices on file include purchase of the mohair hood in September 2013 for £514.20 plus fitting adding another £100, an engine rebuild in February 2013 costing a reasonable £539 which included an unleaded head conversion, 8 valves and seats refaced, new head gasket and machined head by Ramp & Wrench ofCoventry. New carburettors have also recently been fitted.

The history file for the car also includes in addition to that mentioned above, the V5C showing 7 former keepers to the previous owner who purchased the car in July 2019, hand book, MGOC badge, photos of the cardated 2008, a sheaf of old MOTs from 1984 to 2016 and selection of more historic dating back to the mid/late '80s plus some old tax discs from the'70s.

The 'B is of course both tax and MOT exempt and was last presented for MOT on 18th June 2021 which it passed showing just 73,247 miles with no advisories.  

This one drives beautifully and is in genuine condition and has to be an appealing car for anyone wanting a practical classic that is attractive, fun, and easy to live with.
