The Hillman Minx was produced from 1931-1970 and, not surprisingly, underwent many changesin this time. The “Audax” Design Minx that is most commonly associated with classic motoring today is perhaps the collection of Series I to Series VI models produced from 1956 to 1967.
It is understood that the Super Minx launched in 1961 alongside these aforementioned models, as a more esteemed and subsequently costlier alternative. The Saloon variant reigned for seven years and across four different marks, the first three of which were powered by a 1,598cc engine and the last by a 1,725cc unit. Aimed at the top end of the family car market, the Super Minx was more sizeable than the standard Minx and featured more ornate detailing. A 1962 example tested by Motor found the car to have a top speed of 80mph and a 0-60mph time of 21.6 seconds.
Pretty as a picture our green Hillman Super Minx Convertible has a lot going for it, it has only had six owners in 57 years, the previous lady owning it from February 2014. It was fully serviced in July 2020 and underwent some bodywork repairs in October 2019 to keep the car looking as fresh and as good as it does today.
This one is in genuine condition and has to be an appealing car for anyone wanting a practical classic that is attractive, fun, and easy to live with.
