This Model A was originally built in Canada for export (RHD) and shipped to SouthAfrica/Rhodesia. Bought to the UK in 1984 by the then owner Mr B W Barrett.
The car appears to have undergone renovation around 1988 and the original colour of Andalusite Blue changed to Maroon/Black/Ivory (probably around 2000/2001). An engine change also took place during this period.
Since 2007 the car has been subject to some major repairs to the following –
New kingpins/bushesand steering ball joints
New crownwheel and pinion (rear axle overhaul)
New cast iron brake drums fitted front and rear and new brake rods to the front brakes.
New speedometer, new water pump and stop light switch together with indicator lights.
The engine has been rebuilt with +60 thou pistons, a new crankshaft with proper main bearings and new fabric timing gear made from billet aluminium.
The car has full weather equipment with a vinyl hood and side screens together with a tonneau cover.
The car is an excellent runner, and has been properly used by one of its previous owners, Richard and Elizabeth Brown. Richard is well known in the hill climb and vintage rally scene. (He was the record holder at Shelsley Walsh in 1992 and has competed in many endurance events over the years with his wife Elizabeth including winning the Paris to Peking rally!) It has been on numerous UK tours as well as a trip to France. It has competed successfully at a number of trials and driving tests recently with the VSCC. (Three times in the Flying Scotsman event).
The bright metal is not at its best and the paintwork would benefit from some attention (although the dicky seat lid has recently received some tlc) if you require a show vehicle. However it is a well-used and enjoyed motor with lots of patina!
