The Jeep CJ models are both a series and a range of small,open-bodied off-road vehicles and compact pickup trucks, built and sold by several successive incarnations of the Jeep automobile marque from 1945 to 1986. The 1945 Willys Jeep was the world's first mass-produced civilian four-wheel drive car.
Production of the CJ-2A started on 17 July 1945, sharing production time with the MB – roughly 9000 more MBs were produced through September 1945. Many of the early CJ-2As were produced using remaining stock of the military jeep components such as engine blocks, and in a few cases, modified frames.
Since the CJ-2A was primarily intended for farming, ranching, and industrial applications, stock CJ-2As only came with a driver seat and driver side mirror, and a wide variety of options was available, such as: front passenger seat, rear seat, centre rear-view mirror, canvas top, front power take-off (PTO), rear PTO, belt pulley drive.
Recently purchased from an enthusiast, our 1946 Willys Jeep was imported from Texas USA in 2018 and comes with all paperwork including a copy of the US title. It is fully registered in the UK with just two owners and a current and up to date V5C.
It has had much recent expenditure of over £3000 (all invoices available) which includes -
· Rebuilt engine now converted to run on unleadedfuel
· Rebuilt front hub swivel joints and new trackrod ends
· New Solex Carburettor
· New 12v Starter Motor
· New Starter Switch
· New Canvas Hood and Hood Frame
The result of this spend means that this Jeep now drives really well with the 4x4 system recently put to the test by one of the directors to ensure it was satisfactory and can be enjoyed by a new custodian
With the way early Land Rover prices have risen, this Jeep looks like a solid investment for the future and terrific value for money in comparison.
